Windsurfing is one of the most exciting, vibrant and challenging sports around today. It is fast, dynamic, fun, exhilarating and above all it's COOL! Windsurfing is also one of the most cost effective ways of having fun on the water and with the introduction of modern equipment and innovative training techniques it is now easier to learn and pick up than ever. The RYA Level 1 Windsurfing Course is a two day course for people who are serious about learning to windsurf or if you have tried it a while back and want to start from the beginning again. It is a really fun course and your progress will surprise you, the RYA Level 1 certificate allows you to hire equipment at RYA Centre's worldwide under supervision. Course Content : Through out the two day course you will learn the basics of windsurfing with the course covering the introduction to the board and rig, simulator work on land, balancing and rig handling techniques, upwind & downwind windsurfing, safety & self rescue techniques and there will be plenty of on water practicing under the watchful eye of your instructor. By the end of the course you will be able to sail around an area and be ready to move your skills on even further. Logbook and handbooks are included in the cost of the course and upon completion an R.Y.A. certificate. Duration : This is a 2 day course, exact timings vary between locations. What to Wear / Equipment : All specialised equipment is provided ? e.g. wetsuits, buoyancy aids windsurf boards and rigs. Take a swim suit & towel and sun block if it is hot and warm clothes to change into if its not. Locations : * Barnstaple, North Devon * Bembridge, Isle of Wight * Birmingham, West Midlands * Brighton, East Sussex * Maidenhead, Berkshire * Manchester, Greater Manchester * Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire * Newquay, Cornwall * Nottingham, Nottinghamshire Client Comments : "Thanks Rich, I am really glad you talked me into doing the two day course. I am very pleased with my RYA L1 status and had a great time when we went on holiday last week and was able to not only hire the equipment but look pretty good out on it! all the best David Smethurst" Group Size / Spectators : There will be a maximum of six windsurfers per instructor, group size varies dependent on location. Spectators are welcome at most centres, please check when booking. Weather : Windsurfing courses can be weather dependant and in extreme circumstances the course may be affected. Please check with the centre prior to arrival. Availability : The RYA Level 1 Course is run most weeks at our centres all year round. Restrictions : Age requirements: Min age 8 in most locations. At Manchester Location Min age is 9.At Nottingham Location Min age is 14 and Max weight is 114kg / 18 stone (chest size 122cm / 48 inch). All under 18's must be accompanied by a responsible adult. All participants must be confident in the water and able to swim.
